  • Do you accept walk-ins or same day appointments?
We are a by appointment only office. Please schedule your appointments in 2-6 weeks advance. We MAY be able to accommodate same day appointments, however we do fill up quickly and booking in advance guarantees your ultrasound appointment for you and your family.
  • Can I bring guests? How many? Can our children come to watch?
Of course!! Mom can bring 8 guests, if you want to bring more, please see the above image- the scan room comfortably seats 8 guests. You are welcome to bring more people if you would like. Please keep in mind it may feel crowded if you bring a lot more but this is your experience and we want you to be happy and comfortable, so if it's ok with you then it's fine with us. Children of all ages are invited.
  • Can I use insurance or Medicaid?
We are an elective ultrasound studio, we are self pay only. You can use a credit card or paypal to book your appointment.
  • Should I book the 30 minute Signature scan or the 45 minute Deluxe scan?
During pregnancy, babies can assume various positions, occasionally even not showing their faces due to hands or feet in front of the face. Sometimes they are laying against the placenta or mom's uterine wall which can also produce images that are not clear. To address these challenges we do recommend the 45 minute scan but the choice ultimately up to you. Ultrasound scans are most effective when there is plenty of amniotic fluid around the baby. Please stay well hydrated throughout your pregnancy.
  • When can I hear my baby's heartbeat?
14 weeks begins 2nd trimester and that is the time we will doppler a heart via ultrasound. If you 13 weeks/6 days and less we will use motion-mode to obtain the heart rate which is the safest method in first trimester.
  • How is the 8K image obtained from the ultrasound image?
Following your 3D/4D ultrasound, one of the images will be processed using an 8K processor. The features from the ultrasound are used to generate the 8K image. The skin tone is provided to the 8K company by your sonographer, although it's an estimate as the actual tone is not certain until birth. Once the 8K rendering is complete, the company will edit it, similar to how a photographer would edit your family portraits. It's important to note that your baby will gain weight between the time of the 3D ultrasound and delivery.
  • How much water should I drink and do I need to have a full bladder? What about food? Can I eat before come?
We highly recommend our moms to drink 1 gallon of water, every day for 2 weeks prior to your 4D ultrasound appointment. Water prep is CRUCIAL to your image quality! It is helpful to have a full bladder upon your arrival for 1st trimester scans. The goal is for the mom to be very well hydrated, promoting the most amniotic fluid around the baby. If you have not been good about drinking your water, start now and set your appointment ahead to allow at least 2 week of time as this often helps. You may eat a small snack before you come. It's best to not over eat as it can sometimes cause your baby to be sleepy. You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks to your appointment.
  • Is 3D/4D ultrasound imaging safe?
Ultrasound has been used for over 40 years. There is no increase in sound waves used in 3D/4D imaging over 2D imaging. Additionally, there is no radiation involved when using sonography. Extensive studies over the years have found that ultrasound technology has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now a typical occurrence throughout the United States. At Sweet Pea 3D/4D Ultrasound, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our clients and their babies, and all of our sonographers are highly trained and certified in obstetric ultrasound imaging.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
If you pay in full but have to cancel your appointment, we request a 48 hour notice. This amount will be refunded back to you the exact way you originally paid. Refunds can take up to 7-10 business days. We will need an email from you requesting the refund. If you are a no call, no show you will forfeit the money paid.
  • I'm planning a gender reveal, when should I book my gender ultrasound appointment?
You are welcome to book your gender scan anytime starting at 17 weeks. Please start drinking 1 gallon of water every day for 2 weeks to ensure their is enough amniotic fluid for your baby to open their legs. Please do not plan your reveal less than 2 weeks from your gender scan. In the event your baby in uncooperative you will be invited back for a free re-scan within 2 weeks to try to determine your baby's gender. Proper hydration and planning ahead is vital.
  • Can I pay in cash or can I pay in person the day of?
No, all intake forms and payment must be done online to secure your appointment.
  • When is the best time to get a 3D/4D ultrasound done?
It really depends on when you wish to see your baby. Earlier in your pregnancy, you will see cute, tiny body parts, and often the baby is moving quite a bit. Mid pregnancy the baby is growing and filling out and you are able to better see facial features. Later in pregnancy it tends to be more difficult to visualize the baby's face. For fuller face images 27-32 weeks is suggested. Our sessions do not replace the regular prenatal care of your doctor. Our Sonographers are medically trained and certified by the ARDMS. We offer 2D/3D/4D/5D with all ultrasounds except the mini scan.
  • What is the cost of an 8K and how long does it take to come back?
The cost is $30. The technologist will pick the best 3D or 5d ultrasound image from your session. A frontal facial image that is free of hands, feet, placenta, etc. The images(s) are sent back to us within 7-10 business days. Once we have received the image back, it will be sent to your email.
  • If we don’t want to know the baby’s gender, can I still get an ultrasound?
Absolutely! Our technologist will confirm baby’s position, not allowing you to see the tv or monitor. Once the baby’s position is confirmed, the gender area will be avoided for the duration of your ultrasound. Just let your technologist know prior to starting your scan.
  • When is the earliest you can see the gender and what happens if we can't see the gender of the baby? What if we do not want to know the gender and wish to keep it a surprise?
17 weeks is when we start gender ultrasounds. If for whatever reason, we cannot, then we invite you back for a complimentary return visit within 2 weeks of the original booking date. If you do not wish to see the gender, then we will be sure to keep it hidden to preserve your surprise. Please drink 1 gallon of water every day for 2 weeks to ensure you are hydrated enough for baby to move around and show their gender.
